A shout out and huge thank you to @marthastewart for speaking at @thehort lunch yesterday, and she was superb, not that that was a surprise… She’s a gardener through and through and always has been. #therealthing These clever pumpkin/gourd/squash arrangements with dahlias are easily do-able at home. For anyone who thinks traditional furniture doesn’t belong in a contemporary house, think again. The sculptural silhouettes of these period pieces look clean and modern against the stark lines and dramatic scale of the room. Brava to the design integrity and taste of this Dallas hostess who generously opened her home to us last week (and let me take pictures). Interesting bit of trivia: The house was built in 1929 by Stanley Marcus, late president of Nieman Marcus founded by his father and aunt. This room was a 1970s addition by a later owner, I think (?)…
