Love the beauty and simplicity of all green… reposted from @flowermagazine the work of Atlanta floral designer @canaanmarshall. Swipe for foliage details. I’m just getting around to my own mantels. Keeping it pretty simple this year as we are traveling a bit. You?

The ‘60s lived on in last night’s LA soiree celebrating a movie-tv friend’s homecoming from a months-long project on the East Coast. One of the clever hostesses (i was strictly a guest!) decorated a series of styrofoam wig stands in go-go and other super groovy get-ups that were pure genius! .

Funny-not-funny! Don’t get me started… about this ho-ho-ho-riffic habit of cancelling, no-showing, not replying. What on earth is happening to us that this has become endemic in our culture? Especially in big, busy cities full of big, busy people… though it does remind me of how grateful I am for the many good friends and loyal acquaintances we do have and appreciate all the more for their integrity, honor, and manners. … Image is a greeting card I found at @jwoesteinlo Swipe for artist/creator

I have watched this 100 times… with granddaughter Piper aka @djpipertini1016 casting a critical eye o’r new book California Cooking and Southern Style, and coming upon beloved family friend Junebug’s (aka @dogtalkchef ) gorgeous flatbreads in Chapter 5. You can hear His Grace jn the background speculating that she might become a chef… That or a comedienne. Looking forward to celebrating in NYC tonight. .

A good thought and thing to remember as we enter the fray of the holidays. Merry for some and not so much for others. I remind myself just to take the next breath, take the next step… Another lovely page from #theboythemolethefoxandthehorse by @charliemackesy

Did something a little different with the old @potterybarn cornucopia, putting the two larger on the mantel as bases for flowers and two smaller one on a bed of moss on the table, with pumpkins, dried seed pids and acorns, and the handful of leftover flowers left from the other arrangements. I sort of of all out. Ok not sort of. Don’t know what gets in to me . Sooo grateful this year for the help of the talented Ashley Brady, and now so tired can barely keep my eyes open…

Sublime Tweak on Traditional Sweet

Pumpkin Hazelnut Pie with Hazelnut Cookie Crust and Chocolate Drizzle, from California Cooking and Southern Style, a most excellent cookbook ;)

Nothing radical mind you. Not trying to incite a riot here. You got riots enough already with all those relatives and who-all. This is just a subtle but truly sublime twist on a favorite traditional pie, and you’ve probably already got almost all the ingredients already, so give it a whirl if you’re feeling creative.… Continue reading Sublime Tweak on Traditional Sweet

From the most charming book titled The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse, by Charlie Makesy, with such wonderful drawings. (Swipe to see the cover) I can’t wait to read it to my granddaughter this coming week, and then to hear her imitate me. The cheek! It’s a book for grownups too, obviously. With the wonderful but sometimes fraught onslaught of the holidays upon us, I hope I will remember to take these wise words to heart. #theboythemolethefoxandthehorse
