If you’ve been following me for a while, then you’ve heard my best advice on entertaining: keep it simple! Have good, simple food and lots of it. If it’s a buffet, make sure what you serve can be made in advance, that “holds” well, and that it’s good at room temperature. And please please have a seating plan and avoid the awkward lurching about for chairs and possible hurt feelings. That takes the pressure off you; and when you’re relaxed, everyone else will be, too. Honey nobody cares if you’ve frozen rose petals into the ice cubes. They are just happy to be there.⁠

The epic #vidaamericana exhibit at the @whitneymuseum is a revelation of revolution and its impact in art and artists in Mexico and the US, and beyond. Do read Holland Carter’s review in the @nytimes @nytimesopinionart The last piece jn this series is by Jackson Pollock, and you see a direct connection between his work and the powerful Mexican muralists, Diego Rivera among them of course. Also included in the exhibit is the (very respectful) letter Nelson Rockefeller wrote to Rivera asking him to remove the surprise portrait of Lenin he’d painted into the mural commissioned for the then new Rockefeller Center. Diego refused, and the mural was destroyed. It was however recreated in Mexico City, where it remains. A shame, but Im with Mr R on this one.

This masterpiece and many more like it was dreamed up by the amazing floral designer @cultivatedbychristin. Her work, like her talent, is original, unfettered, and abundant. My bestie @rosestoryfarm and I took a workshop with Christin in Scotland two years ago (highly recommend, btw) and have been breathless for her book ever since. Appropriately titled “Culivated”, this treasure is a must-have and must-read for any flower-lover. Head to my link in bio for more!⁠

A Ralph Lauren protege-turned-interior designer, Wood’s work bespeaks the chic-aristo-style of Ralph but also bears the indelible stamp of a Renaissance man who follows his heart. Ih my gracious was literally driving out of our driveway this morning and THIS arose from our neighbor’s pasture across the road. When I got closer I could see they were loaded up and ready to go, so I stopped to see if they might lift off. The burners fired a few times—they’re loud!—but alas, I had to scuttle along. But was very exciting.
