As we all hunker down over the days to come I see a lot of @pinterest scrolling, cooking and organizing in our future. Life is sort of normal around the ranch and I’m grateful to be in the boondocks, mindful of and prayerful for those who are in the urban hotspots. ⁠

In the meantime I am sharing my thoughts over on the site and enjoying a bit of armchair travel, grateful for once NOT to be packing my bags anytime soon. Like a beautiful, sunny melody, I can’t get this image out of my head. It could be the South of France or the North of Italy, but in fact it is the Southern California home of Brooke and Steve Giannetti, complete with menagerie of miniature farm animals that are adorable beyond belief. Goats! Donkeys! Shaggy Highland cows!  I was honored to write about Patina Farm a few years ago for @verandamag , and the Giannettis have become friends. Managed to make it to Palm Beach in time for Evensong @bbtschurch and it was worth the hustle. Sooo beautiful and just the right end to a busy beautiful wedding weekend nearby, and an inspiring start to the first week in Lent, a time of contemplation and self examination in the Christian church.

Happy Birthday today to our darlin’ fabulous mama, who would come back from the grave and snatch me baldheaded if I told how old she would be. This beautiful pastel portrait is by talented dear friend @maureentoneill11 whom Mama loved. Maureen said this image just came to her one night, not long after Mama died in 2005, and she captured it. It is one of my favorite portraits of her, and I treasure it. Am thinking today too of so many fabulous ladies Ive been lucky to have had in my life who have recently left this earth – @cariboo24 @ninaggg among them. Though I imagine they are up to something, wherever they are. @duvallfuqua
