The little house on Meadowvale, again. With the horizon in the middle, again. The morning’s outing. Always learning, that is what counts. . #pleinair #landscape #santaynez #beautyheals #natureheals

Black and white, so beautiful together. I couldn’t avoid that metaphor in this last week of all weeks, as we have witnessed so many of our brothers and sisters, black and white, join hands and hearts… For the last 6 weeks, with a Zoom class on Saturdays, I’ve been taking a drawing class with the hope of improving my painting. This last week we had the exciting challenge of choosing our own images from which to draw. This one of the bridge at Big Sur was from a photo by the divine @edbdesigns who has the most impeccable eye in all things, and who is a sweetheart to boot. Thank you for the inspiration (again!) dear Beth! . . BLM #Bigsur #drawing #landscape #bridgesofinstagram #bridge #francesschultzart

A Valley friend and her dog sat on this bench tonight in front of @stmarksinthevalley guarding a BLM sign. Earlier in the week signs taped around our little town’s flagpole were removed in the night. Twice. My friend made sure this one stayed as long as she did. Grace and peace to you all in this time of commitment and action.

For years His Grace and I loved “Taco Night” @brothersredbarn in Santa Ynez, where we’d run into half the town and catch up with the other half. But before the Red Barn, the Brothers, as they are known, manned the kitchen at the charming former stage coach stop in Los Olivos known at Mattie’s Tavern. Matteis is undergoing a HUGE re-do, btw, and we are all excited about that here– provided this dang virus vamooses, which it WILL. But meantime the taco recipe is alive and well on my site, and when you can’t remember what day it is (hello?), you can always remember when it’s Taco Night. So tap my #linkinbio and ole!

Setting off on early morning errands. Has turned cool and foggy the last 2 mornings, after an unseasonable hot spell when I planted some zinnias which promptly burned to a pitiful crisp… Will try again today…

The charms, houses and gardens of Provence are a constant delight. Here is the gorgeous Mas Des Poiriers, reminding me also of the beautiful Mas de Baraquet once owned and designed by my friend the talented @ginnymagher , and fingers crossed I will be able to travel there to paint in September… Do you have trips planned you holding your breath over? Or are we just booking armchair travel these days, and if so, where to for you?

A few years ago my bestie Dani @rosestoryfarm and I went to a floral workshop in Scotland hosted by @cultivatedbychristin. Christin elevates floral design to fine art, and as a beautiful gift to us all she shares her wisdom and gorgeousness in her new book “Cultivated: The Elements of Floral Design”. Today, drum roll please… Christin “arranges” my account and you are in for a treat. When she agreed to take over my account to share her work with you all, I could not wait to see what she would come up with! Click on my stories where Christin is profiling “Five Things to Learn (about floral design) from the Baroque”. Enjoy!
